The Struggle No One Solved
I grew up watching my grandmother treat everything with turmeric—sore throats, tiny cuts, dull skin before family gatherings. To her, turmeric wasn't a spice. It was devotion. A healer. A ritual passed through four generations.
That wisdom stayed with me.
When COVID hit, it was my wife who carried it forward. Every morning, she made turmeric drinks to protect our family. Her quiet faith in nature's healing power grounded us during some of the most uncertain days of our lives.
But behind all of that, I was fighting my own battle: stubborn dark spots that seemed impossible to fade.
I spent more than $3,000 on dermatologists and "brightening" products that either did nothing—or triggered irritation that made my hyperpigmentation worse. Every brand claimed to work for "all skin tones," but their formulas told a different story.
They weren't made for melanin-rich skin. We were an afterthought.
The Breaking Point
I reached my limit. I was done trusting products that weren't created for people like us. Done wasting money on false promises. Done feeling invisible to an industry that claimed to serve everyone.
That's when I made a decision that changed everything:
If no one was going to make skincare that actually worked for melanin-rich skin, I would do it myself.
The 24-Month Journey
I partnered with a cosmetic chemist who shared my obsession. What followed wasn't easy. It wasn't quick. And it definitely wasn't glamorous.
We spent 24 months in research and development. We tested 61 different formulations. We failed 11 times—formulas that stained, irritated, or simply didn't deliver results.
There were moments I wanted to quit. Moments when the easier path would have been to just accept "good enough" like everyone else.
But I kept thinking about my grandmother. About the women like my wife who deserved better. About every person with melanin-rich skin who had been let down by an industry that never prioritized them.
I refused to launch until it actually worked.
